24th December: Christmas Eve Mass Timings

Christmas Masses:

I’m afraid we will not have the services of Father Norman this year because he is celebrating the Christmas Masses at Penrith. Also, Christmas Eve is on a Sunday. Saturday/Sunday will not fulfill your Christmas Obligations!! So, the Masses over the weekend are as follows:

Saturday 23rd December – 9.15 am (St Edmund’s) and 6.00 pm (St Bede’s).

Sunday 24th December. (Christmas Eve) – 9.30 am (St Edmund’s), 11 am (St Bede’s), 6 pm vigil (St Bede’s).

Monday 25th December (Christmas Day) – 9.30 am at St Edmund’s.

Tuesday 26th December (Feast of St Stephen. – No Mass

Also, can I remind you that we are a new parish and that we are no longer the parishes of St Bede’s and St Edmund’s, and so Masses at Christmas and Easter will consequently be different in the future!

Peace and Good wishes for this Holy Season from Father Jim, Father Norman, and Deacon Frank.

These catechesis presented by the Neo-catechumenal Way will continue at 8 pm on Mondays and Thursdays at St Bede’s Liturgy Room. It is never too late to come and listen.

Call in and browse, see the vast range of Christmas Goods. Advent Calendars, Nativity Books, Diaries, Calendars and Christmas Cards. Open after Masses – sometimes before Mass. Easy access for all. Fr Jim has agreed to put the light on! Helpful staff. Shop early and beat the Budget.

St Bede’s Catholic Primary School are keen to attract people in the community to become governors; people who can bring energy, experience, and fresh ideas to the role of organizing and managing a school. At St Bede’s we have two vacancies for foundation governors with, particularly financial, expertise.

Governors need to have time to dedicate to their role, to make good decisions and to make sure their decisions are followed up. Anyone interested please contact the school on Tel: 01228 528274

Catholic Schools & The Government:

From the Bishop:

“Do you support Catholic schools and the right of Catholics to send their children to them? Then we need you to make your voice heard. “The Government is making a critical decision on whether to overturn the admissions cap which prevents Catholic schools from allowing all Catholic pupils to attend. It has acknowledged that this policy discriminates against Catholic and promised to abandon it. Now we need you to tell the Government not to U-turn on their promise to Catholics. Visit http://catholicnews.org.uk/ or search for ‘Catholic Education’ in your search engine to write to the Government and urge it to drop their policy which bans new Catholic schools.

Thank you,

+ Michael G Campbell OSA
